I’m a bit late to reply to this but I like it when I see thoughtful and concise writing about relevant things or not so relevant, but in short I like what you think about this matter and I really hope it will help us all in here to connect with CCP and them to be more in touch with us. Pretty obvious things sure, but I like clarity and sometimes stating the obvious can help to clarify things

OZ, you have my vote.
Mainly because you have been around for as long as I have and trolled the same forum threads, and probably understand the beast that is CCP as well as anyone else. What we don’t want in the CSM are bunch of l33t pew pew OMG WTF BBQ Fishsticks PWND!!111oneoneeleven I bought my meta-trained character types who are only interested in their personal/corp/alliance agendas.

You are actively putting yourselves forward into the public domain by running for the CSM, not content with just playing the game you are willing to spend even more of your time (it’s yours, do with it as you wish) to work on development and community issues. Why?

Because CCP has decided that this is the direction the game is headed and I fear that if it isn’t implemented properly, it could make the game less fun. I can spare the time, I love the game, I think I can help.

This game evolved from pure gameplay to meta-gameplay a long time ago. I can’t remember who said it first, but the forums became an extension of the eve client and to paraphrase “some wars are won & lost without ever logging into the game”. So no, I don’t think it’s taking meta-gaming to a new level, more just a distillation of the existing meta-gameplay that exists.

People are capable of multi-tasking, I don’t see why this is would make someone a ‘wrong type’ to be entrusted to such a role. Let me ask what type of person you think should be representing the playerbase?
As for whether I feel it’s healthy to be so involved with an internet spaceship game - it’s a hobby. I would rather spend my time playing eve than watching TV or skateboarding. Unlike most MMO’s, eve is far more relaxed and you are capable of doing other things while playing it.

I very much agree with every point regarding the CSM except for it’s election. There are fourteen seats, players should get to put 14 points down. Anywhere from all 14 points for one candidate or one point for 14 candidates.

Great interview, you’re actually 1 of the single 2 candidates I’m considering worthy of my vote.
The main reason I put you as an automatic second best vote, is simply on account of your fame. And I fear that you’ll get plenty votes on that, so Strategicly I migth vote for this other guy hoping both of you get in

thanks for the support - since I’ve played eve I’ve always tried to see everyone else’s perspective to situations and weigh them against my own views. I like to think most of the time I am correct, but now and then people see something you don’t and I believe you need the ability to acknowledge that and alter your own views otherwise your own viewpoint becomes skewed.

In the end the CSM is about representing the playerbase as a whole, there’s no point having a group of people constantly fighting and maneuvering against each other to try and get their ‘pet’ issues through at the expense of everyone else.
